In its distinctive corner of the High Sonoran Desert, The Verdes blend a subtropical climate and breathtaking vistas with pristine desert charm and fire-in-the-sky sunsets which inspire poetry and art. It is ideally situated on a panoramic west-to-east sloping terrain, with elevations ranging from a comfortable 1,500-to-1,700 feet above sea level.
Surrounded by natural beauty, a magnificent panorama beckons to the east and northeast, the Tonto National Forest, one of the last great wilderness areas to be treasured for generations. The Verde River, one of only two free-flowing rivers in Arizona, serves as nature’s alluring line of demarcation separating our communities from the National Forest’s three million acres of awe-inspiring majesty.
To our southwest we enjoy the unbridled beauty of the McDowell Mountain Regional Park, at the base of the McDowell Mountains, the jewel of the Maricopa County Park System. On our southern border we look upon the Fort McDowell Yavapai Native American Nation with its bountiful agricultural fields, hospitality venues and casino operations, and beyond, spectacular views of the legendary Superstition Mountains.
